Data Scientist

Terna, the Italian transmission system operator (TSO), is committed to the ecological transition process. We play a leading role in managing the electrical system and enable the energy transition, Terna is tasked with developing a network capable of managing an increasingly better integration of renewables and enabling the progressive decarbonization of the system, while ensuring the constant balance between energy produced and consumed.

As a Data Scientist, you will perform the following activities:

  • Manage Big Data and Advanced Analytics platforms aimed at data governance and the development of a unified integrated base (Data Lake), with the goal of improving the quality, effectiveness, and usability of data in support of the business.
  • Define, develop, and implement algorithms, simulators, and predictive models, as well as activities aimed at strengthening data analysis tools, to contribute to the creation of a unified and consolidated data foundation.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Computer, Electronic, Telecommunications, or Management), Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of advanced data mining tools.
  • Experience with big data technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and team working skills.
  • Proficiency in English language.

 

The recruitment process will be extended to Rome.

 

Compensation Information

In accordance with Article 5, paragraph 1, of Legislative Decree 96/2026, the Company discloses the information relating to the initial compensation foreseen for the position.

The initial gross annual salary, not lower than € 40.050,67, is determined based on the level of responsibility and the competencies required, according to objective, verifiable, and gender-neutral criteria, and in line with the applicable National Collective Agreement (CCNL). 

Any remuneration above the indicated minimum threshold shall be granted exclusively on the basis of additional, objectively verifiable elements, such as, by way of example:

  • relevant and qualified professional experience;
  • specific technical or managerial competencies;
  • level of autonomy and responsibility effectively required by the role.

These elements are applied according to transparent and non-discriminatory criteria, in compliance with the principle of equal pay for equal work or work of equal value.
