Terna, the Italian national transmission grid (NTG) operator, is actively engaged in the process of ecological transition and—as director of the electricity system and enabler of the energy transition—has the task of developing a grid capable of managing the ever-increasing integration of renewables and enabling the progressive decarbonisation of the system while constantly balancing energy produced and consumed.

Terna is seeking candidates for the role of Substation O&M Technician, within the Gorlago offices Technical Team, for the National Transmission Grid.

 

As Substation O&M Technician, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining and restoring AT substations.

 

Specifically, here are some of the main tasks you will be asked to carry out:

 

  • Analysing the technical condition of systems/components and the quality of the service provided
  • Supporting the creation of the Plant Maintenance Plan
  • Planning and managing the Operational Maintenance Plan and Investment Plan
  • Performing specialist checks on the systems and on the components installed
  • Scheduling, planning, implementing and reporting on system maintenance, update/development interventions, and providing support to construction sites belonging to other Company structures, to have an overview of the entire maintenance chain
  • Performing commissioning and approval of works
  • Supporting companies for contracted activity, and management and oversight of services, supplies and outsourcing contracts
  • Managing equipment, Personal Protective Equipment and motor vehicles
  • Designing, planning and performing work on behalf of third parties

 

Moreover, you could be involved in emergency services, such as:

                                                                                                                                       

  • Fault detection, both alone and supported by expert colleagues, even from other company functions
  • Extraordinary system supervision and safety manoeuvres
  • Drafting the Works Plan and Project Plans

 

Terna is very sensitive to the topic of environmental sustainability and Digital Transition - pressing matters for all the leading grid service companies.

Therefore, you will take part in a training course to learn how to manage environmental and technical-administrative data (Data Quality), through software and administration tools that digitize processes and maintenance logics.

 

Another fundamental aspect in Terna’s business is managing Safety and work-related risk.

 

These topics will also be covered in a training course, where you will acquire the skills you need to carry out the relevant tasks while ensuring high safety standards.

You could be asked to verify the systems’ compliance with current environmental, health or safety regulations and/or support other corporate functions in assessing the right system solutions or operating modes to ensure all the necessary safety requirements.

 

Main requirements 

 

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Automation, Telecommunication, Computer or Energy Engineering, Process Industry Prevention and Safety Engineering, and Work and Environmental Safety Engineering;
  • Previous professional experience in other companies belonging to the electric supply chain or to other Utilities/Service Companies is preferred;
  • Good propensity to team work;
  • Available for on-call shifts;
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office bundle;
  • Holder of a category B driving licence.
